Originally planned to be a replacement for the BMW M3 Coupe / Convertible models the M4 became a model in its own right when the BMW Executives expressed an interest in retaining the M3 blood-line and also creating a slightly larger model than would bridge the gap to the current 5 series. Unveiled in prototype form at the 2013 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, the F82 (BMW internal model code) M4 coupe features a 3 litre twin-turbo straight six engine, with either 6 speed manual or 7 speed M-DCT automatic transmission, driving the rear wheels through an electronic Limited Slip Differential and uses Carbon-fibre reinforced plastic for areas such as the roof, which not only looks exotic but also has the advantage of lowering the vehicles centre of gravity for improved driving dynamics.

Finished in her Mineral Grey metallic and on walking around the BMW M4 you begin to get a sense of the performance within the car; flared arches, optional 19" alloys, the carbon-fibre roof, bonnet bulge, aerodynamic aids and quad exhausts. On starting the M4 the driver now gets a real idea of the performance within as the 3 litre twin mono-scroll turbo charged engine bursts into life with a bark. After a few moments the tone settles and on selecting 'Drive' and in Comfort mode the 7 speed auto allows for relaxed driving. Switching to Sport or Sport Plus offers far more 'spirited' driving dynamics, with sharper suspension, steering and throttle responce and there is now doubt the M4 will achieve is quoted 4.1sec 0-60mph and easily achieve the limited 155mph should the driving situation legally allow it!
